A simple idea born from real pain.

Acupressure Pillow began not in a laboratory or corporate office, but in the life of an Australian father who refused to accept chronic pain as a normal part of life. Our founder, Malcolm Trotter, spent years working in the fishing industry on the NSW coast, one of the most physically demanding professions imaginable. Long days of lifting, pulling and repetitive labour eventually took their toll.

Like many Australians who work with their bodies every day, Malcolm experienced constant aches and stiffness. Neck pain, back pain and muscle tension became part of daily life. He tried everything available to manage the pain including medical consultations, pain relief products and different devices promising miracle results. Unfortunately, nothing delivered lasting relief. After years of frustration, Malcolm decided to stop searching for a solution and start creating one.

The invention that changed everything

Malcolm began experimenting with ways to apply targeted pressure to key areas of the body to relieve muscle tension and stimulate circulation. His first prototype was incredibly simple, a small wooden device he built for his own use. It wasn’t meant to become a business, it was just a practical solution for his own pain. But when Malcolm started using it, the results surprised him. It worked and the relief was immediate and over time he felt better than he had in years.

Encouraged by the results, Malcolm refined the design, tested it repeatedly and continued improving it until he was confident it could help others experiencing similar pain. He also consulted with professionals across the health and wellness sector to ensure the design was safe, practical and easy to use at home. The result was the Acupressure Pillow.

A family business built with purpose

To bring the invention to life, Malcolm partnered with his daughter Cloe Trotter. Together they patented the design and launched Acupressure Pillow, building an Australian wellness brand focused on practical, drug-free pain management.

While Malcolm focused on the product and its effectiveness, Cloe helped shape the business, brand and customer experience. What started as a personal solution quickly grew into something much bigger. Today the Acupressure Pillow is used by people across Australia and internationally who are looking for a simple way to manage aches, tension and stress at home.

A wellness solution built from lived experience

What makes Acupressure Pillow different is its origin. It wasn’t designed in a boardroom and it wasn’t created as a marketing concept. It was developed through lived experience, trial and error and a genuine desire to solve a real problem.

The pillow applies targeted acupressure to key areas of the body, helping to:

• relieve neck, shoulder and upper-back discomfort
• reduce muscle tension and stiffness
• stimulate circulation
• support relaxation and stress relief
• promote overall wellbeing

It is designed to be simple, effective and accessible so people can support their health in the comfort of their own home.

Trusted by everyday Australians and elite athletes

The Acupressure Pillow is now used by people of all ages, from office workers and tradies to athletes and retirees.

High-profile users include NRL legends Glenn Lazarus OAM and Nate Myles, who have spoken about how the pillow helps them manage aches and pain after decades of physical impact. For Malcolm, the most meaningful feedback comes from everyday people whose lives have improved because of the product. It was never about starting a business, it was about getting his life back and now it is also helping many other.
